+# What would you want from the next, ultimate Hearts Of Iron IV (HOI4) clone?
+
+I will refer to the HOI4 clone as Doppelgaenger (DG) from now on, for now.
+
+## Issues with HOI4
+
+Performance
+    Early game is good in HOI4, but anything past 1942 becomes hard, especially in multiplayer and for people with worse computers. Also depending on the scenario.
+
+Look into modding
+    How is the HOI4 modding experience?
+
+Air & Navy
+    It's crude, it's big, the zones are massive, the planes aren't designed in the best way. The designer is nice, and I get more might be overwhelming, but it feels a bit incomplete
+    Something similar goes for Navy.
+    Navy also needs like all your attention if you really wanna do something for it. It's a drain itself.

+Annexation of States and not individual provinces
+
+Democracy is boring AF. Only communism / fascism (which are basically the same) are really that much fun

+Role play only really works well with mods, and even then eh...

+## How they would be fixed in DG

+    This is something that would have to be deeply invested, and obviously I don't doubt that there were loads of optimsations in the game, but technically HOI4 does use a non-custom built engine? I would build it from the ground up, without even an engine. Just hard, completely from the ground-up compiled code. Perhaps with a graphics library. I don't expect performance to be wildly better, especially at the start, though it's something I would focus on. And seeing as I don't know how the code in HOI4 is structured, maybe there is some good performance to be gained, and changes to be made that would allow the game to just do _that_ much better. Especially in the late game.
